Welcome to the Travel Newsletter for The Hedgerows, organised by your Travel Plan Co-ordinator. The Hedgerows Travel Plan is currently in its third year of operation with this newsletter being one of the measures provided by the Travel Plan to advise residents on their options to travel sustainably. This newsletter will provide an update to the travel information previously provided in your Travel Information Pack, as well as dates for your diary to take part in national sustainable travel events.
Travel Information Update
Walking
Walking offers the greatest potential to replace short car and public transport trips, particularly those under a 2km distance. It provides a healthy alternative to the private car and typically forms a component of many journeys made by public transport or by car.
The Hedgerows provides direct walking links with connections around the site and to the local area. Within The Hedgerows green areas containing grass, parks, wooded areas, public gardens and benches are provided. Surrounding The Hedgerows, it is easy to walk to a range of local facilities with pavements and walking links provided along local roads to ensure you can easily and safely walk around the town and access many local facilities on foot.
You can walk to many local facilities within a 30-minute period from The Hedgerows.

Walking is a completely environmentally friendly activity.
Walking is an important form of sustainable transport which costs nothing and offers a wide range of benefits to you and the community.
Cycling
The Hedgerows, and the surrounding areas are beautiful places to ride your bike with a wide variety of scenery and designated traffic-free routes.
You can cycle to all the facilities in the local area within around a 30-minute ride, including the South Downs National Park!

Benefits of Cycling
Cycling is sociable – it provides a fantastic way to share some time with friends and family.
Cycling is ‘green’ – you can feel good about doing your bit for the environment.
Cycling is quick – for short journeys under 5 miles cycling is usually the fastest way to get around – and you won’t get stuck in traffic.
Cycling is cheap – no bus, train or season tickets required.
Cycling is convenient – it gets you ‘door-to-door’, with a guaranteed arrival time.
Cycling is fun – and helps you explore your local environment.
Travel by Bus
Your nearest bus stops are located on Nyton Road and Fontwell Avenue. Depending on where you are located within The Hedgerows the stops are located within an approximate 4-minute walk (300m).
The following services are available from these bus stops:
66A / 66C (between Bognor Regis and Yapton)
85 / 85A (between Arundel and Chichester
500 (between Littlehampton and Chichester)

Travel by Rail
Barnham Rail Station is located approximately 2.2km from The Hedgerows and is accessible within a 9-minute cycle or via the 66A / 66C bus services.
The station benefits from approximately three services per hour to London Victoria, with two services per hour calling at Portsmouth, Southampton and Brighton. An additional five services per hour to Bognor Regis and Chichester are also provided from Barnham Station.
